The Cd asked for copies of what the loops had been used on, so once completed, Steph sent a copy of "Progress" to Bridge Recordings (the Master Drums label). One thing led to another, and a correspondence ensued between Charlie and Steph via email. Charlie was touring with Elton John at the time, and asked if the band would like to hook up in Ottawa (his closest date to Toronto). Of course we said yes! We met Charlie, (who kindly took us out for a bite to eat), and were invited to the show the next evening. With backstage passes clutched firmly in hand, we met up with Charlie who introduced us to the rest of Elton's band. Everyone was very positive about Urban Circle's record-definitely a boost. About 1/2 an hour before showtime, we took our seats for the concert. While sitting listening to the pre-show music, what came pumping over the P.A. but "Progress", the first track from our record. They continued to play our Cd up until the time Elton came onstage. Needless to say we were thrilled. We met up with Charlie after the show, thanked him and said a quick farewell, as he was off to Quebec City for the next show. Hey, we made it into his "Diary of a Rock Drummer"! While planning our next release (then as iO), Charlie very kindly offered to lay down drum tracks for the new record. We sent rough sketches over to Britain, and Charlie sent back pure percussion artistry (check out the 5/4 groove in "Life" ). Definitely the most fun we've had laying down tracks.
